            A.        Use the descriptive terminology of various parts of a long bone correctly.

            B.        Describe the location of the following morphologic features:

                        1.         osteon

                        2.         Volkmann's and Haversian canals

                        3.         compact and cancellous bone

                        4.         endosteum

                        5.         periosteum

                        6.         various lamellar systems in bone

                        7.         marrow cavity

                        8.         osteocyte

                        9.         osteoblast

                        10.       osteoclast

 

            C.        Recognize the various zones described in the process of endochondral bone

                        formation.

            D.        Be able to discuss the salient features of intramembranous and endochondral bone

                        formation.

            E.         Identify the cells responsible for bone healing and the sites of their origin.

            F.         Define "callus" as used in reference to healing of bone.

G.        Describe the process of bone remodeling paying particular attention to cells and canal systems involved.
