Microscopic Anatomy of Animal Tissues & Organs

This study guide is based on the University of Minnesota glass microscope slide collection and refers to the source slides by their number. Be sure to explore all of the navigation and information buttons on each page - they are either above or beside the descriptive text. Most images are zoomable with automatic navigation to important fields and structures. Learn by exploring and identify the labeled features elsewhere on the zooming images and, if you have the glass slide, at the microscope.

Comprehensive learning objectives are suggested on the intro page for each section. Each intro page also has a "Self Test" link to self-assessment quizzes, which cover basic identifications for each unit. Finally, lists of important terms are included for some units.

We welcome your comments and suggestions on how to improve these materials! ...and never hesitate to ask questions!
