Skin - the Integumentary System
1. Identify the microscopically visible features of skin, specifically its layers and their components.
2. Identify accessory skin structures including: a) sweat glands; b) sebaceous glands; c) arrector pili muscles; and d) hair and hair follicles.
3. Identify blood vessels and peripheral nervous system structures in the skin.
4. Identify the parts of a hair follicle.
5. Recognize the general morphologic features of the: a. Epidermis b. Dermis
6. Identify: a. histologic sections of skin, b. sebaceous glands, c. sudoriferous sweat glands.
7. Describe the vascular supply to skin.
8. Describe innervation to skin including specialized nerve endings.
9. Describe the alterations (metamorphoses) that occur in the various layers of the epidermis as the cells move from the basal layer to the surface.
